About the role

The Lead Cook prepares food using standard recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. This role may supervise employees and delegate responsibilities, with duties varying by location based on client requirements and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and assigns daily work activities to staff and supervises task completion.
  • Trains and guides staff on job duties, food safety, sanitation procedures, and cooking methods.
  • Cooks and prepares food following production guidelines and standardized recipes.
  • Sets up workstations with necessary ingredients and equipment.
  • Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items.
  • Safely uses food utensils, including knives, and operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
  • Applies various cooking methods (baking, roasting, broiling, steaming) to meats, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines.
  • Properly stores food following food safety policies and procedures.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Maintains excellent customer service with a positive attitude toward guests, customers, clients, and co-workers.
  • Follows Aramark safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation.
  • Ensures security of company assets.
  • Produces and maintains work schedules and may prepare production records.

Job duties may change or new ones may be assigned without formal notice to meet commitments.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisor experience in a related role preferred.
  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Proven knowledge of food preparation principles, cooking methods, and food safety regulations (proper handling, sanitation, and storage).
  • Food safety certification required.
  • Basic math and counting skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

This role may involve physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, and standing, as well as wearing uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Pay

Hourly rate: $17.03.
