About the Role
The Glass Manufacturing Shift Supervisor (Hot End) will supervise hourly employees in the continuous operation of the plant's production activities. They will assist in maintaining focus on overall plant goals, safety, continuous process improvements, good labor relations, and outstanding quality and production efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Ensures quality and productivity by monitoring and performing mechanical, visual, and informational system checks.
- Reviews shift operations and makes recommendations to improve plant operations to meet service, quality, safety, and productivity goals.
- Ensures all team members are adequately trained and knowledgeable of department procedures.
- Monitors control charts and reviews process shifts with key personnel.
- Delegates assignments and monitors responsibilities of work groups to ensure throughput, quality, and safety of shift operations.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all customer requirements and plant emergency procedures.
- Communicates effectively, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as needed.
- Handles administrative duties, including time records, production reports, general correspondence, absentee and vacation schedules, safety investigations, and disciplinary records.
Requirements
- Must be able to work a rotating schedule.
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
- College education in a related major preferred.
- Experience supervising/leading people and processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Previous experience working in a union environment highly preferred.
- Glass manufacturing experience required.
Pay
The expected salary range for this position is between $95,000 and $105,000, with an 8% monthly shift differential bonus and a possible 12% quarterly incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
