About the role
Responsible for supporting Dairyland's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through geospatial data maintenance, map development, system support and routine GIS operations. Assists with the development, implementation and maintenance of GIS data, tools and applications that support daily business needs.
Responsibilities
- Support spatial processing, geospatial data provisioning, geodatabase maintenance and web services used in Dairyland Power Cooperative's GIS environment.
- Assist with developing and maintaining geospatial data for use in enterprise systems, including vector data, elevation data, imagery and other assigned data sets.
- Assist with developing and maintaining models and scripts used to automate geoprocessing workflows.
- Support geospatial data lifecycle activities in an enterprise environment, including development, provisioning and deployment.
- Maintain documentation for geospatial data standards, processes, models, scripts and deployment procedures to support GIS operations.
- Provide technical support to users and clients, prioritize requests and resolve routine issues related to the maintenance, development or operation of GIS databases, equipment or applications.
- Support GIS software upgrades and related system maintenance activities in coordination with IT and other departments.
- Document budgetary needs for review by supervisor.
- Maintain new and existing geospatial data through data entry, validation, correction and timely updates.
- Maintain familiarity with GIS technology, equipment and systems, and provide input on potential improvements that support Dairyland Power Cooperative business needs.
- Prepare maps, drawings and geospatial analysis for operations, engineering, field crews and other Dairyland employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a GIS-related field is preferred. An Associate Degree with two (2) years of GIS work experience using Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) products, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, is required.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
- Basic working knowledge of the ArcGIS suite of products is required.
- Working knowledge of datums, coordinate systems and projections is required.
- Ability to support assigned work, maintain priorities and work effectively with internal employees is required.
- Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) certifications will be evaluated. Continuing education is expected.
- Valid Driver's License is preferred.

Work environment
