GIS Services Specialist

About the role

The GIS Specialist performs routine map-implementation tasks and advanced technical work as needed, delivering detailed GIS map products to clients on schedule. The role involves close collaboration with clients, implementation specialists, and project managers to gather information for successful project execution. This position significantly impacts the company’s reputation and ability to secure recurring revenue and billable work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intermediate-level analysis of GIS source data and input data into various GIS databases.
• Perform quality-control checks of own work and others to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Work directly with clients, implementation consultants, and project managers when appropriate.
• Track billable time in various time-management databases.
• Perform duties with an appropriate level of supervision while seeking clarification or help when needed.
• Deliver projects on time to meet client expectations.
• Ensure data is error-free while adhering to client deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with the GIS team and management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, or a closely related field.
• 3+ years of general GIS experience.
• Experience with ESRI or open-source GIS software.
• Understanding of geography and GIS principles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a diverse group, including non-technical staff.
• Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.

Skills

• Experience editing routing networks in a versioned SDE environment (a plus).
• Familiarity with performing SQL queries (a plus).
