About The Job
The Tepa Companies are seeking a GIS Project Manager to support the Technology Business Unit and manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope.
- Manages multiple projects, client and subcontractor relationships, and project staff.
- Secures subcontractor pricing, project specifications, and task schedule coordination.
- Directly manages teams of people who often work on multiple projects from different physical locations and time zones.
- Collaborates in and often leads project and technology related meetings and conference calls.
- Tracks and runs monthly financials on projects, along with weekly and monthly status reports.
- Participates in regularly scheduled financial Program Reviews and provides project financial information as requested.
- Develops and outlines work processes and procedures.
- Communicates with subcontractors to outline tasks and delivery schedule.
- Develops estimates and proposals.
- Develops deeper relationships with current clients and upsells where appropriate.
- Provides well-informed input into teaming discussions, marketing activities and sales strategies for the types of projects, clients and markets that they specialize in managing.
- Ensures timely approval and submission of invoices to clients and prime contractors in compliance with Tepa’s financial calendar.
- Works with clients to resolve payment of invoices, gain acceptance of deliverables and other business necessities related to the management of their projects.
- Travel to client and project sites 1 – 2 times per month or as directed by EVP or Operations Manager.

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Information Technology or related field
- 5+ years of leadership experience in increasingly advanced geospatial/GIS technical positions
- 1+ years of successful experience working as a technical Project Manager in technology consulting organization
- Experience managing highly technical projects such as GIS data capture/creation/conversion, geospatial workflow automation, creating/configuring web viewer applications, federal/defense technical training projects, etc.
- Previous experience performing technical work on the types of projects you manage to provide context for Project Management decisions (e.g., working as a GIS Analyst or Solutions Engineer, Reality Capture Specialist, etc.)
- Able to obtain a security clearance, Transportation Working Identification Card (TWIC) or similar, which typically requires proof of U.S. Citizenship and a background check
- History of successful interaction with people of widely varying technical knowledge, such as IT administrators, end users, managers, and decision makers
- Solid understanding of project financials, project management practices, and customer service
- Demonstrated success managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adjust terminology and tone for a variety of different types of audiences
- Solid understanding of business analysis techniques and processes
- Ability to prioritize required tasks to meet multiple stringent schedule deadlines
- Strong Microsoft Excel Expertise
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for requirements gathering, system documentation, training and other collaborative activities
Preferred Education And Experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent
- Experience with water utility or water district projects and organizations
- Consulting experience with local government and seaport
- Esri GIS projects is also welcome
- Experience performing or leading Geospatial System integration activities
- Esri Associate or Professional level certifications
