GIS / Data Scientist Intern

About the role

Work with the WFRC Analytics Group on a variety of projects that support regional mapping/analysis, travel demand modeling, and land use forecasting. Specific topics may include road, transit, and bicycle/pedestrian travel; housing, parcels, and land use plans; regional employment distribution; and economic development and regional quality of life.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in urban planning, geography, data science, economic policy, and/or civil engineering
• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro is strongly preferred

Skills

• GIS and spatial analysis
• Python coding and platforms for automating repeatable data processing tasks (R, SQL, ArcPro model builder, etc)
• Statistics and modeling
• General interest and understanding in urban/regional information systems

Schedule

October 2026 – May 2027, up to 20 hours per week, with preference for Tuesday and Thursday onsite availability.

Pay

$17.00 per hour
