Westfield Community School is seeking a highly motivated Girls Basketball Coach with a strong knowledge of basketball and a focus on student-athletic achievement.
Responsibilities
- Coach at all levels within the program, managing various areas and responsibilities.
- Enhance, improve, and maximize students' athletic skills to compete at a high level.
- Lead an athletic program for sustained participation and success.
- Conduct off-season strength and speed training.
- Lead fundraising, organization, and other program-related tasks.
- Work with the Athletic Department to schedule games, officials, and transportation.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment for the entire program.
- Organize and oversee all program levels and areas of responsibility.
- Communicate with the Athletic Director to secure safe practice and competition facilities.
- Set the philosophy, programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals, and proper conditioning to maximize the student-athlete experience.
- Plan practice sessions and competition strategies with the assistant coach, ensuring the health and physical well-being of student participants.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director for all in-season practices.
- Ensure all student participants comply with D300 and IHSA requirements, including current athletic physicals, Code of Conduct, fees paid, and academic eligibility prior to practice, tryouts, and competition.
- Model and instill values of sportsmanship and fair play, enforcing consequences for breaches.
- Attend all student-athlete practices and games, monitoring proper supervision at practices, games, and on school-provided transportation.
- Maintain and provide end-of-season individual and team records and statistics to the Athletic Director.
- Participate in a mandatory preseason parent meeting and head coaching minutes.
- Plan seasonal student-athlete recognition.
- Handle distribution and collection of uniforms and equipment.
- Engage in personal professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience is preferred.
- Must be organized, flexible, and able to take direction from a direct supervisor.
- Must be able to work and communicate effectively with parents and the Booster Club.
