Gillette hiring for an Education/Features reporter
Gillette News Record is seeking a high-energy reporter to cover city council, feature writing, and other assignments in Gillette and Campbell County.
About the role
This position may suit an entry-level reporter starting in journalism or one with more experience, seeking a new opportunity to learn and grow. The role includes taking photos for each assignment; professional camera experience is a plus but not required.
The News Record publishes twice weekly in print and online daily, with a strong history of award-winning reporting and a commitment to teaching and exercising the fundamentals of journalism.
Location
Gillette is located in an energy-rich stretch of northeast Wyoming, between Bighorn National Forest and the Black Hills of South Dakota, less than an hour from Devils Tower. The town offers excellent public amenities, including a modern recreation center, walking and biking trails, and many parks.
Responsibilities
- Cover city council meetings and other local government assignments
- Write feature stories
- Take photos for each assignment
- Occasional page design (experience is a plus)
Schedule
Hours vary, based on a traditional work week with some meetings and assignments at night.
