Essential Functions
- Demonstrates competency on the use and troubleshooting of all endoscopic equipment.
- Completes Annual Competency on the Reprocessing of Endoscopy and Accessories.
- Ensures physical preparation of the endoscopic procedure room, i.e.: cleaning, stocking and replacing supplies.
- Complies with Surgery Center protocol and manufacturers guidelines for use, processing and maintenance of supplies and endoscopic equipment.
- Checks equipment for working order and effective cleaning prior to use.
- Affords assistance with transport and positioning of patients.
- Participates as procedure room team member to complete room turnover.
- Provides verbal reassurance for patients as necessary during procedures.
- Maintains neat and orderly work area.
- Functions as a team member during stress and in crisis situations.
- Utilizes cost containment principles for use of supplies
Requirements
- Required Education and Experience: High School graduate or GED. Current CPR certification or must obtain within 6 months of employment.
- PREFERRED Education and Experience: Formal training as medical assistant, OR/GI Tech or nursing assistant. OJT in gastroenterology with a minimum of two year’s experience. Preferably certified as a gastrointestinal assistant. Previous experience in related medical or surgical facility, one year.
