Geriatric Program Director - Lancaster General Health

About the role

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking a BC/BE Geriatrician to act as Geriatric Program Director and clinician to join one of the largest and most well-established geriatric programs in the region. LGHP Geriatrics provides a variety of clinical services for older adults, and this position would have a focus on the full spectrum of care in the long-term-care setting including short-term rehab, personal care, long-term skilled care, and end-of-life care. In addition, there would be opportunity to provide care as part of the hospital inpatient Geriatric Consult Service and through outpatient geriatric consultations. The physician would be part of a team which includes other geriatricians and nurse practitioners. Call requirements are divided between members of a large group of physicians and nurse practitioners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care across long-term-care settings (short-term rehab, personal care, long-term skilled care, end-of-life care)
  • Participate in the hospital inpatient Geriatric Consult Service
  • Conduct outpatient geriatric consultations
  • Oversee 5 section leads of sub-practices as Geriatric Program Director
  • Teach family medicine residents and geriatric fellows
  • Participate in quality improvement, leadership, and committee work

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine (Allopathic/Osteopathic)
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Geriatric Medicine
  • Possess or able to obtain an unrestricted PA Medical License
  • Completed Certification Requirements for Certified Medical Director (CMD) – preferred

Practice details

The employed practice includes 3 office locations, a home-care program, a hospital consult service, and comprehensive medical direction at 5 nursing facilities throughout the community. The team comprises 18 geriatricians, 1 internist, 21 nurse practitioners, a social worker, and a geriatric pharmacist, all specially trained to maintain the health of older patients with a focus on early diagnosis and effective treatment of aging-related conditions in vulnerable older adults, including Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
