About the Role
A Geotechnical Senior Engineer I applies strong technical expertise and engineering judgment to develop proposals and technical deliverables for diverse industrial projects, including gas plants, liquid terminals, LNG facilities, chemical plants, and bulk material handling facilities.
Responsibilities

- Works collaboratively in a team environment and interacts professionally with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Prepares scope of work documents for geotechnical investigations and site-specific seismic studies.
- Coordinates efforts of geotechnical subconsultants and field soil boring locations.
- Reviews geotechnical reports and site-specific seismic reports prepared by consultants.
- Advises and coordinates with foundation engineers to optimize foundation solutions.
- Applies strong understanding of geotechnical principles for shallow and deep foundations.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of soil improvement techniques.
- Performs field activities, such as observing and documenting existing conditions, soil conditions during excavations, and foundation placement.
- Prepares foundation settlement calculations and slope stability calculations.
- Performs evaluations for liquefaction potential.
- Designs retaining walls and prepares scope of work for mechanically stabilized earthen retaining walls.
- Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in geotechnical engineering to formulate and solve problems.
- Provides input for proposals regarding geotechnical requirements.
- Assists in preparation of proposals and coordinates with engineers, designers, and administrative staff.
- Interacts with project managers, clients, officials, contractors, and others.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering, specializing in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
- 6+ years of engineering experience in geotechnical engineering of industrial facilities (e.g., gas plants, liquid terminals, LNG facilities, chemical plants, bulk material handling).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time-sensitive deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.
- Proactive approach and consistently positive demeanor.
- Knowledge of codes and standards relevant to geotechnical design (e.g., ASCE-7, IBC).
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Word/Excel.
- Occasional overtime and travel may be required.
