Geotechnical Regional Technical Consultant
General Responsibilities
Terracon is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Regional Technical Consultant to join our Team in the Gulf Coast Region! This person will sit in our Hoover, AL office. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead efforts in The Gulf Coast West region which includes the State of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, incorporating 8 offices. A successful candidate will be able to support the growth of our Geotechnical Service Line across the Gulf Coast West Region. This role provides technical leadership, guidance, and support to office and regional teams. This individual will oversee and provide technical expertise in the performance and review of geotechnical services operating throughout the Gulf Coast West Region and surrounding regions. They will lead and support the development, operations, and growth of the geotechnical service line. The role also includes mentoring and providing direction to team members while driving consistency across the region by standardizing policies, practices, and procedures across offices. The candidate will monitor the performance of geotechnical teams, support ongoing training initiatives, conduct site visits, and ensure the delivery of high-quality work products. Additionally, this individual may contribute to client development efforts and support the recruitment of geotechnical professionals within the region.
Essential Roles And Responsibilities
- Partner with departments and offices within the region by providing technical expertise and consulting to further the development of the geotechnical service line.
- Serve as the primary geotechnical subject matter expert, resource, and point of contact to office and department personnel within the region.
- Develop, refine, and recommend policies, practices and procedures for the geotechnical service line to drive uniformity and standardization across the region.
- Partner and collaborate with other Regional Technical Consultants in other regions to develop the geotechnical service line across divisions and operating groups.
- Aid region departments in the execution of growth strategies and actions necessary to achieve the strategic and annual operations plans.
- May participate in client development, proposal support, and pursuit strategy activities.
- May assist in identifying and interviewing key geotechnical hires to strengthen the region's technical capabilities.
- Develop and deliver technical training for the service line including but not limited to drilling and sampling techniques, lab testing standards, engineering analysis, and field best practices to offices in the region.
- Provide technical support on projects as needed.
- Assist in the development of projects, business and clients.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- A minimum of 12 years’ related experience in Geotechnical Engineering, particularly in consulting.
- Professional Registration License in Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama is required with the ability to obtain a Professional Registration in other states preferred.
- Preferred: Master's Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering and 15 years’ related experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
