Geotechnical Project Engineer (Transportation)
Key Responsibilities
- Manage geotechnical projects for transportation and GDOT-related infrastructure (roadways, bridges, retaining walls, embankments)
- Plan and oversee subsurface investigations, including drilling, sampling, and test pit evaluations
- Classify soil, rock, and geologic conditions in accordance with GDOT and AASHTO standards
- Perform geotechnical analysis and develop recommendations for foundations, pavements, slopes, and earthwork
- Prepare geotechnical reports and documentation for DOT submittals and design teams
- Cook up scopes, budgets, and proposals for transportation projects
- Aid in mentoring junior staff and supporting field operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical focus preferred)
- EIT required; PE preferred or on track
- 3-5 years of geotechnical experience, preferably supporting transportation / DOT projects
- Familiarity with GDOT standards, AASHTO guidelines, and transportation project workflows
- Experience with field investigations and geotechnical reporting
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

NOVA Engineering is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to support GDOT and transportation infrastructure projects across Georgia and the Southeast. This position is based out of NOVA's Kennesaw, GA office and is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants hands-on involvement in roadways, bridges, and infrastructure development while growing into a project leadership role.
