About the Role
A career-level, fully competent geotechnical engineering professional responsible for managing detailed phases of projects with moderate size and complexity. You will provide geotechnical engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients, including public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial sectors. Qualified candidates may be based out of either our Columbus, GA or Auburn, AL location.
Responsibilities
- Perform and/or lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations.
- Design and develop plans and specifications, observe and inspect construction, and prepare or review related reports.
- Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Prepare proposals, cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress and budgets, and recommend changes.
- Research and resolve design and construction problems.
- Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports.
- Apply sound engineering principles and communicate complex engineering issues to technical and non-technical clients.
- Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards; participate in pre-task planning and report safety issues.
- Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects.
- Independently perform projects or segments of larger projects, planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of work.
- Work closely with senior-level project managers to gain additional project management experience.
- Make design, engineering, and construction recommendations, adaptations, and modifications.
- Prepare proposals and reports for small and large projects of varying complexity; perform quality control review of proposals.
- Evaluate complex laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
- Serve as a technical adviser to junior-level project team members.
- Interact directly with clients to develop scope of services, communicate progress, findings, and recommendations.
- Write and prepare routine and complex geotechnical engineering reports detailing services, findings, and recommendations.
- Participate in marketing, sales, and business development.
- Supervise graduate, field, and project engineering staff.
- Work under the supervision of a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer and begin the documented mentoring and application process for certification.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience; geotechnical engineering experience preferred.
- Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
