About the Role
Supervise or monitor all projects in progress in the department to ensure work is executed on time, meets client requirements, and adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to ensure proper scoping of services, manpower availability, and pricing for desired profitability.
- Oversee daily department operations, including staff training, development, performance reviews, equipment utilization, safety oversight, service quality, and timely delivery of services and deliverables.
- Plan and participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities while building and maintaining client relationships.
- Prepare proposals and cost estimates with support from the Department/Office Manager.
- Perform business and client development activities with support from the Department/Office Manager.
- Develop and manage employee staffing plans, recruitment, selection, and on-boarding with support from the Department/Office Manager.
- Prepare and execute the annual business plan for the specialty service group with support from the Department/Office Manager.
- Oversee and manage key group metrics: revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
- Develop an understanding of project-related risks, including familiarity with potential project pitfalls and company risk policies.
- Lead safety efforts for the team, ensuring adherence to safety rules and guidelines, and promote a safe work environment.
- Promote pre-task planning for all projects.
- Provide continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects, ensuring consistent quality standards for project and proposal delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology) with 5 years of practice experience, or a minimum of 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or licensure in a field of expertise.
- Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status preferred.
