Geotechnical Driller
GFT is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller to work with our drilling crews for geotechnical, environmental, and structural subsurface projects. This role is located in Ebensburg, PA. About the role
As a Geotechnical Driller, you will be focused on a wide variety of geotechnical and/or environmental projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starting and motivated individual who can perform with minimal supervision, a team player, and one who takes pride in their work.
Responsibilities
- Operate drill rig(s) and oversee drilling operations for auger borings, standard penetration test (SPT) sampling, rock coring, monitoring well installations, infiltration testing, and other types of drilling as required.
- Collect field data as required by specifications and/or job instructions.
- Train and supervise drilling assistants on the drilling site.
- Meet production requirements and utilization goals.
- Communicate with project managers, inspectors, clients, and supervisors as required.
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of drill rigs and other equipment.
- Consistently promote and adhere to safe work practices, including the use of required personal protective equipment and compliance with site safety plans.
- Operate DOT-regulated vehicles and maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, including record keeping and equipment inspections.
- Travel is required, including occasional weekends and extended periods. All travel expenses, including travel time, are paid.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant geotechnical drilling/operating experience.
- Valid PA Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform high-quality work in an efficient and productive manner.
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently outdoors in all types of weather.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to operate track and track-mounted drill rigs for geotechnical sampling including coring; hollow and solid-stem augering; split-spoon sampling; etc. (preferred).
- CDL License a plus.
Pay
The hourly range for this role is $23.00 - $30.00 per hour, dependent upon experience and geographic location.

Schedule
Core business hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Full-time position with occasional weekend travel and extended periods as required.
