The Georgia-Pacific's Containerboard division is seeking a Process Engineering Co-op/Intern for the Fall 2026 at their Big Island, Virginia mill.
About the role
The Process Engineering Co-op/Intern will join a team responsible for optimizing processes, minimizing costs, and reducing variability. They will work on process improvement initiatives, troubleshoot process upsets, support routine outages, and conduct process testing. The position offers real-world, hands-on experience through a dedicated mentor and participation in the Koch Intern Program.
Responsibilities
- Understand and lead safe work practices
- Collaborate with operations and management to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and minimize process variability
- Support capital projects to innovate technology
- Increase operator knowledge of processes
- Build relationships with operators and management for knowledge sharing
- Perform routine testing of key process variables to ensure accuracy of online instrumentation
- Make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Manage chemical and process changes or trials
Requirements
- Enrolled in a college degree program in Pulp and Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- Eligible for full-time employment on or before January 2027
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or sponsorship

Pay range: $27 - $30 per hour
