VHB’s dynamic Geomatics team is seeking a talented Geomatics Survey Project Manager to join our vibrant Southeast region in Orlando or Tampa. This role is ideal for an experienced Geomatics professional with a strong background in Land Surveying and Reality Capture across applications such as ALTA surveys, linear utility surveys, highway & transportation surveys, and a cutting-edge understanding of GPS, Total Station, and Reality Capture technologies including UAS, Terrestrial Scanning, and other scanning applications. A demonstrated track record of successfully managing land surveying projects and clients is essential.
Responsibilities
- Project management of scope, schedule, and budget for small, medium, and large, long linear land survey projects
- Management of project staff and clients
- Performance and/or oversight of surveying calculations and deliverables
- Analysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans, and other pertinent documents for the project
- Reviews and certifies work that staff has completed with a high-level of precision and accuracy
- Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed
- Coordination of field crews and Survey/CAD Technicians
- Perform field checks and manage quality control of all products
- Coordinate survey efforts with other groups in an integrated services environment
- Manage both field and office staff on private, public, and FDOT Projects
- Client management and business development (preferred)
Requirements
- 5+ years of geomatics/land surveying experience, including managing large-scale, complex land surveying projects
- Florida PSM license is required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Engineering, or related field preferred and may substitute for some experience
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam
- Proficiency in Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, and Trimble Connect
- Proficiency in all aspects of field and office land surveying including boundary line and topographic survey as well as construction stakeout
- Experience with electronic instruments, field data collectors, GPS, robotic instruments, remote sensing technologies such as UAV’s and terrestrial scanning, LiDAR processing software (Leica Cyclone and global mapper) is preferred
- Experience with ESRI software is a plus
Skills
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements
- Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawings
- Thorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience with Open Roads Design, MicroStation, and GeoPak is a plus
- Topo DOT extraction
- Ability to direct and monitor construction layout services
