Geology Intern
About The Role
The Geology Intern will partner closely with the Exploration & Resource Development team to support geological programs for our Nevada Projects portfolio. This is a project-based internship. Rather than generalized administrative tasks, you will be assigned a core technical project to own from start to finish. This role offers hands-on experience, culminating in an end-of-program presentation to technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a dedicated 12-week project, managing timelines, and delivering a final technical report and presentation.
- Learn to conduct detailed geological logging (e.g., drill core and RC chips), execute field data collection, and maintain accurate geological records.
- Assist the team in compiling and interpreting geological, geochemical, and drilling data to support exploration targeting and resource evaluation.
- Support field exploration operations, including mapping, sampling, and data analysis alongside the geological team.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a rising senior in an Undergraduate program or final-year Master's or PhD student pursuing a degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Foundational understanding of mineral exploration methods, geological mapping, core logging, and sampling techniques.
- Familiarity with or strong interest in epithermal and Carlin-type gold systems, as well as GIS and geological software platforms, is a plus.
- Strong technical writing, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze datasets, draw logical conclusions, and present findings clearly.
- A collaborative mindset with an eagerness to learn and proactively ask questions.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid driver's license required; willingness to travel to project sites and work in remote field environments if necessary.
Fall Recruitment Timeline & Hiring Milestones
- September 15 – October 30, 2026 (Application Review): Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Early submission is highly encouraged. Successful applicants will move to a virtual interview with the internship program manager.
- October 12 – November 6, 2026 (Final Rounds): Finalists are invited to a virtual hiring manager interview.
- November 16 – 20, 2026 (Offers Extended): Final hiring decisions and official offer letters will be extended before the winter university break.
Compensation
- Beatty, Nevada: Market Related
- Las Vegas, Nevada: Market Related
- Denver, Colorado: $27/hour for Undergraduate interns; $35/hour for Graduate interns.
