Geology Adjunct Instructor

Teach Geology courses based on instructor qualifications, with a current need for instructors in our Corrections Education Program (CEP) in St. Louis. CEP courses are taught face-to-face within correctional institutions and require additional background screening for State of Michigan Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) clearance. Positions are part-time and teaching assignments vary by semester based on enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers.
• Prepare and deliver instructional materials (e.g., syllabi, homework assignments, handouts) in person and/or online.
• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
• Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
• Participate in required reporting processes (e.g., grades, participation).
• Assist students in connecting to college resources.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Geology or a Master’s degree or higher in another field with 18 graduate credits in Geology.
• Eligibility to work in the United States (Jackson College does not sponsor visas).
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and additional LEIN screening for CEP roles.
• Adjunct instructors are employed by EDUStaff, LLC (unless receiving a pension from the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System).

• Teaching assignments are not guaranteed each semester and depend on enrollment.
• Unofficial transcripts may be used for selection, but official transcripts are required if hired.
