Geography & Map Specialist - Intermediate (AI Community)

AI models power the maps we use every day for delivery and travel, but they often struggle to understand the real world. At TELUS Digital, we are looking for Geography enthusiasts to be the "eyes on the ground" for our AI. You will look at satellite images and maps to ensure the AI correctly identifies roads, buildings, and landmarks.

Responsibilities

• Confirming Landmarks: Review satellite images and verify AI labels (e.g., "Yes, that is a hospital," or "No, that is actually a shopping mall").
• Route Checking: Validate map routes to ensure the AI does not suggest impossible paths (e.g., driving through a park or a walking trail).
• Naming Places: Use local knowledge to verify AI-assigned names for neighborhoods, streets, and natural features in your region.
• Environmental Tagging: Help the AI identify features like forests, rivers, or new construction sites on maps.

Requirements

• Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, or Environmental Science.
• Native-level proficiency in your primary language, with deep local area knowledge.
• Basic (B1) English proficiency to communicate with the project team.
• Strong visual accuracy in reading maps and recognizing patterns in satellite imagery.

Candidates will complete a subject-specific qualification exam and ID verification as part of the hiring process.

Pay

Pay rates for experts range from $10–$20 USD per hour, with terms defined per project.
