About the role
The Genetic Counselor at Rush University Medical Center provides comprehensive pediatric and adult general genetic counseling services to patients in diverse clinics, including connective tissue disorders, chromosomal disorders, single gene disorders, newborn screening, and family history of genetic disease.
Responsibilities
- Counseling and record keeping for patients in genetics clinics and inpatient consultations.
- Evaluation, diagnosis, and follow-up of patients.
- Education of genetic counseling students and medical trainees.
- Research and grant management.
- Assisting with patient follow-up, documentation, and communication with collaborating healthcare providers.
- Assisting in the implementation, coordination, maintenance, and design of research protocols.
- Quarterly reporting to the Illinois Department of Public Health for genetic counseling grant.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an ABGC accredited program.
- Current State of Illinois Genetic Counselor licensure or eligibility for temporary licensure.
- Board certification from ABGC or ABMG or eligibility.
- Two years genetic counseling experience preferred.
- Research experience preferred.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $34.89 - $56.78 per hour, reflecting the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.
Schedule
The work schedule is Shift 1, 8 hours (8:00:00 AM - 4:30:00 PM).
