Job Duties
- Conducts thorough medical history, including detailed family histories.
- Collects and reviews all lab data and medical records of patient to establish patient’s current health status.
- Utilizes clinical skills and knowledge in the assessment of health status.
- Gathers and integrates patient data to assist in the development of an individualized plan of care, utilizing appropriate reference material.
- Collaborates with the Physician to make appropriate referrals based on the evaluations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree from an accredited training program in Genetic Counseling.
- No prior work experience required.
- Preferred: Post Graduate Clinical Experience.
Required Certifications
- Eligible for Board Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and/or the American Board of Medical Genetics.
