Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Valid Texas Teaching Certification with required endorsements
- One of the following endorsements is required:
- Generalist (EC - 4) or (EC - 6)
- Teacher of Young Children - General
- Early Childhood (PK - 3)
- Elementary (PK - 6)
- Core Subjects (EC - 6)
- Kindergarten
- Core Subjects with Science of Teaching Reading (EC - 6)
- English as a Second Language Supplemental endorsement is required
- All Early Childhood teachers must hold ESL certification
- All Early Childhood Teachers must also meet one of the following:
- A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or another early childhood education credential approved by the agency
- Certification offered through a training center accredited by Association Montessori Internationale or through the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education
- At least eight years' experience of teaching in a nationally accredited child care program
- Be employed as a prekindergarten teacher in a school district that has received approval from the commissioner for the district's prekindergarten-specific instructional training plan that the teacher uses in the teacher's prekindergarten classroom
- Or an equivalent qualification
