About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated Generator Technician to service and repair commercial generators on cell phone towers in your region. This role is ideal for independent, self-starters who are willing to travel and thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain generators, diagnose and repair problems, install and replace components or entire systems, and perform additional maintenance or upgrades on out-of-season equipment
- Conduct performance checks and regular maintenance on generators to ensure proper readiness
- Read and follow blueprints or other design specifications to install or repair
- Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring and controls, and other components, and test for proper operation
- Respond promptly and timely to Power/Generator alarms; be available for 24/7 on-call duty if necessary and respond to assigned phone and email
- Perform work with awareness of all potential hazards connected with the installation and maintenance of power supply equipment, switching gear, and other equipment, including but not limited to falls, electric shock, falling objects, and traffic; use safety equipment and follow safety practices
- Attend and participate in all designated safety and training meetings
- Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience with generator maintenance is preferred; a minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
- Thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair; knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
Physical/Work Environment
- Must comply with OSHA Standards
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment/alarms effectively, both visually and audibly
- Willingness and ability to drive long distances, work day, evening, or night hours; overtime, emergency callouts, weekends, and holidays as required
- Must assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned and be gone from home for extended periods of time
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical
Pay
Base pay range: $30 USD - $40 USD. Actual compensation is influenced by skill set, level of experience, and location. In addition to wages, employees may be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem, or other applicable compensation.
