About the Role

As a Generator Shop Technician at W.W. Williams, you’ll diagnose, repair, and rebuild standby power generators and related power-generation equipment in our shop. Work alongside an experienced team focused on getting equipment running right and back to the customer fast. If you take pride in clean diagnostics, quality work, and keeping critical power systems online, this opportunity is immediate.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain standby power generators, fire-pump drivers, and related power-generation equipment in the shop.
  • Troubleshoot generator controls (AC and DC), automatic transfer switches (ATS), breakers, voltage regulators, and alternators using electronic diagnostic tools.

  • Perform load-bank testing and accurately record instrumentation readings.
  • Disassemble, clean, inspect, and determine the reusability of components per OEM guidelines.
  • Build a clear repair plan — operations needed and estimated hours — and document parts and labor accurately on work orders.
  • Stay current on product changes, specifications, and OEM service bulletins.
  • Keep a safe, clean, organized work area and follow all company, safety, and EPA standards.

Requirements

  • 2+ years servicing or repairing generators (8.5kW–3500kW), or equivalent training and experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and diesel engines.
  • Comfort using electronic diagnostic tools and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Your own hand tools (we back you with a Tool Replacement Insurance program).

EGSA certification is a plus — and if you don’t have it yet, we’ll help you earn it. Transitioning military, trade-school graduates, and apprentice-level techs ready to grow are encouraged to apply.
