About the role

The General Utility Worker performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and support tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment within the facility. This role supports multiple departments and may include responsibilities such as dishwashing, floor care, trash removal, and general sanitation duties.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and assigned facility spaces in accordance with department procedures and safety guidelines.
• Collects and disposes of trash, recyclables, and biohazard waste according to proper protocols.
• Operates dishwashing equipment and manually washes dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools as needed.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and maintains floors in designated areas.
• Stocks and replenishes supplies and materials in assigned workstations.
• Affords assistance with basic maintenance or setup tasks, such as moving equipment or furniture.
• Ensures all equipment is used and maintained safely and properly.
• Reports maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to appropriate personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years of custodial, utility, food service, or general labor experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, standing, and repetitive motion
