About the role
In General Utility at Pratt Industries – Memphis, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of production machinery. This position involves a variety of tasks, including machine setup, operation, cleanup, and troubleshooting, with a focus on safety, meeting customer demand, and maintaining high-quality standards. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment, constantly striving for improvements in equipment efficiency while ensuring safety and cleanliness in your work area.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, ensure compliance with operational guidelines and OSHA regulations
- Inspect products and materials to meet quality standards, follow proper procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in production, and identify and report any quality concerns
- Operate or learn to operate a variety of machinery including forklifts and production equipment
- Monitor equipment performance, report malfunctions, and assist in setup/adjustments as well as routine maintenance of machines
- Participate in periodic training sessions to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices for manufacturing operations
- Document operational data and report production progress
- Assist with troubleshooting minor mechanical issues and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Adapt to changes in work assignments, shifts, and production needs
- Collaborate with coworkers to meet production goals and willingly take on additional responsibilities as needed
- Load and unload materials safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean work environment by properly disposing of waste
- Additional duties may be assigned by management
Requirements
- Prior experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred but not required
- Ability to follow instructions under limited supervision
- Ability to operate forklifts and other equipment as needed (training provided)
- Basic PC skills
- Ability to learn manufacturing principles and practices
- Perform basic mathematical calculations and read a tape measure
- Standing, bending, and repetitive motions for extended periods
- Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain one
- Compliance with physical, drug-screening, and background check requirements
