General Surgeon - Belfast

About the role

Located on Maine's spectacular coast, MaineHealth is seeking a BC/BE General Surgeon to join our growing regional surgical team serving both Pen Bay Hospital in Rockport and Waldo Hospital in Belfast. The surgeon will primarily perform call coverage at Pen Bay Hospital, a 99-bed full-service community hospital, while maintaining weekday OR and outpatient clinic responsibilities at Waldo Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital. The position offers a balanced mix of operating room time, clinic, endoscopy, and acute care surgery, supported by experienced advanced practice providers and a strong referral network. Pen Bay Hospital and Waldo Hospital serve the scenic Midcoast region of Maine, known for its rugged coastline, boating, hiking, arts, and vibrant local communities. Responsibilities

• Provide call coverage at Pen Bay Hospital.
• Maintain weekday operating room and outpatient clinic responsibilities at Waldo Hospital.
• Perform a balanced mix of OR procedures, clinic visits, endoscopy, and acute care surgery.
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers and leverage a strong referral network.

Requirements

Board certified or board eligible (BC/BE) in General Surgery.

Pay

The annual base salary for this position is $426,641.

Schedule

4‑day work week with a mix of operating room, endoscopy, and clinic time; includes call coverage at Pen Bay Hospital and weekday OR/clinic at Waldo Hospital.
