General Surgeon
About the role
As a General Surgery Physician at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, you will be part of a 5-provider group consisting of 3 surgeons and 2 experienced Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). The practice is ambulatory and includes an intensivist-staffed ICU and inpatient/outpatient wound care services. On average, there are 15-20 patients per clinic day. The schedule involves call rotation of 1:4 and support from locum tenens providers to maintain a work-life balance. The office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Fridays. The practice is staffed with an on-site manager, nurses, office clerks, and a scheduler.
Responsibilities
- Perform surgical procedures using 3 DaVinci XI robots
- Staff inpatient rounding by an APP
- Assist in the operating room
- Manage the office practice from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Fridays
- Book patients in 15-, 30-, or 60-minute increments
- Conduct common procedures such as excision of skin lesions, I&D of abscesses or seromas, and anoscopy & hemorrhoid banding
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A medical degree from an accredited institution
- A current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Kentucky
- At least 3 years of relevant surgical experience
- Experience with robotic-assisted surgery
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
