About the role

This position involves performing in-depth research and causative analysis to address discrepancies in physical inventories, warehouse refusals, and customer complaints. The incumbent will also develop new procedures to correct or prevent errors, analyze trends in recurring discrepancies, and conduct operational and systemic studies to improve inventory accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops schedules for, and conducts inventories.
  • Conducts investigations and analysis to determine causes of inventory discrepancies.
  • Provides recommendations to correct or prevent errors.
  • Gathers data from automated systems to analyze trends of recurring discrepancies.
  • Conducts operational and systemic studies to causes contributing to physical inventory and location inaccuracies.
  • Validates data compiled using various ADP systems to resolve record accuracy problems.
  • Identifies and initiates new procedures to reduce inventory record error rate, streamline inventory processes, and comply with agency guidance.
  • Arranges special inventories to reconcile accountable records.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts and stock selectors to locate and move materials.
  • Led lower graded technicians performing inventory functions.

Requirements

  • Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level, including experience in planning, developing schedules for, and conducting inventories; conducting investigations and analysis to determine causes of inventory discrepancies; providing recommendations to correct or prevent errors; gathering data from automated systems to analyze trends of recurring discrepancies; conducting operational and systemic studies to causes contributing to physical inventory and location inaccuracies; validating data compiled using various ADP systems to resolve record accuracy problems; identifying and initiating new procedures to reduce inventory record error rate, streamline inventory processes, and comply with agency guidance; arranging special inventories to reconcile accountable records; operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and stock selectors to locate and move materials; leading lower graded technicians performing inventory functions.
  • Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLB or J.D., if related, demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-09.

  • Education: To qualify at the GS-09 level based on education in lieu of specialized experience, applicants must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLB or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
