General Superintendent (JFK Airport)
About the role
We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to join the $19.5 billion Redevelopment Program at JFK Airport. The General Superintendent will be the main field point of contact for current and upcoming projects and will aid the local Project Manager of Construction in guiding the project team from issued‑for‑construction engineering to startup/commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day project issues and physical activities directly onsite.
- Mentor on‑site superintendents, foremen, and trade crews.
- Enforce strict OSHA guidelines and run daily safety huddles.
- Coordinate master schedules, short‑interval plans, and material deliveries.
- Perform day‑to‑day coordination of field activities.
- Inspect workmanship to guarantee compliance with blueprints, specifications, and design.
- Bridge communication between field personnel, project managers, and subcontractors.
Requirements
- 10+ years of heavy construction experience.
- Proficient written and oral communication with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders.
- Heavy haul experience within the New York City or New York State area, including site logistics.
- Experience following/determining routes with the PANYNJ and coordinating with vendors to ensure safe delivery of material to site and/or laydown areas.
- Well‑rounded experience with mechanical, electrical, and civil trades.
- Local to JFK Airport for emergency response.
- Flexibility to shift from days to nights and work overtime when needed.
Pay
Salary: $175,000 – $225,000
