General Production - Line Service - 2nd shift

Shift: 4:30 PM-2:30 AM | Hourly Rate: $19.11 an hour + $1.00 shift differential

About the role

Reporting to the Team Lead, you will monitor and troubleshoot the operation of production equipment to ensure continuous production. You will join a team of over 500 associates. The primary function of this position is to service the packaging lines with supplies from storage/staging areas, transport pans, racks, tubs, and totes of meat, vegetables, and other ingredients and materials to assigned lines in a timely manner, observing all safety regulations and ensuring all GMP and quality standards are met to maintain the efficient flow of high-quality product through the production process.

Schedule

2nd shift, Monday - Thursday, some occasional Fridays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • At the start of the shift, check schedule, complete “pass-over” with previous shift operator, put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear, and complete safety check on equipment to ensure all safety devices are functioning properly.
  • Check the production schedule for the product being run and verify proper supplies are available in the staging area.
  • Report to assigned production/packaging line, transport/assist/line feed/stabbers, and rotate positions as directed.
  • Obtain proper tools/utensils and verify ingredients/components, recording lot numbers as required.
  • Remove "lot labels" or production tags from containers and turn in at Production Office.
  • Service hand placement with pans of meat components, strip, split, and supply tubed meat to production line.
  • Obtain racks of pans, boxes, buckets, tubes, tubs, or totes of pasta, meats, vegetables, etc., and position to workstation with Power Jack or by hand as needed.
  • Manually break up frozen components in tubs/totes (corn/green beans, etc.) with shovel or spade as needed.
  • Manually load buckets of vegetables into feeders and dump products (pork/beef/chicken/patties) into tubs for hand placement.
  • Obtain packaging material (case-carton blanks/film) from staging areas and position to appropriate line station with a power jack.
  • Change film rolls as needed and weigh product on scales as required.
  • Assist other line personnel as required and complete other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Keep work area clear and clean, run out product, and complete change-overs and sanitation clean-up as directed.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • At the end of the shift, complete “pass-over” with next shift operator or clean area, prepare, and secure all equipment as required.

Requirements

  • This is a physical position requiring lifting boxes of up to 40 pounds, climbing stairs, and using your hands to move things.
  • Pallet jack and/or forklift operator experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with large machinery, moving parts, and potential noise.
  • Safety is important; earplugs and other personal protective equipment are provided.
  • Overtime may be needed to fulfill production demand.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations.
  • Must meet company performance standards and participate in orientation and training where required.
  • Must be able to access all levels of the structure and related equipment as required.
  • Must understand and adhere to “Good Manufacturing Procedures.”

Physical Requirements

  • Being on your feet, walking around the facility, climbing stairs/ladders, or kneeling for extended periods of time.
  • Performing consistent repetitive tasks.
  • Frequently lifting, pushing, or carrying materials.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment with high noise levels and varying temperatures.
