Just Drains LLC, Philadelphia’s top-rated drain-cleaning service, is seeking a full-time Service Technician to operate our fleet of General Pipe Cleaners Model 88™ sectional drain machines and deliver the same rapid, reliable results that keep commercial clients coming back.

About the role

You’ll respond to emergency calls—grease blockages, root intrusions, collapsed lines—across restaurants, hotels, and institutional kitchens throughout the greater Philadelphia area. Every job is time-sensitive; you’ll work independently to diagnose the problem, select the right cable and cutting head, clear the stoppage, and restore full flow before the client’s business is disrupted.

Responsibilities

• Operate Model 88 sectional drain machines (3/4 hp, 3.5:1 gear ratio) to clear 3"–12" lines up to 200 ft deep.
• Assess stoppages on-site, choose appropriate 8 ft or 10 ft chain- or spring-center cables, and execute self-feeding runs.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines: grease gearboxes, inspect couplers, replace worn cables, and test safety clutches.
• Document each job—location, pipe size, cable used, footage cleared, and time spent—for billing and warranty claims.
• Upsell preventative maintenance contracts to commercial clients after emergency service.
• Train junior technicians on safe operation of sectional machines and General’s no-wrench cable-coupling system.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and clean MVR; own reliable vehicle capable of transporting a 150 lb drain machine.
• Minimum 2 years experience operating sectional drain cleaners or hydro-jetting equipment in commercial settings.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs repeatedly, work in confined spaces, and stand for 4+ hours in all weather conditions.
• Basic mechanical aptitude: troubleshoot motor issues, adjust clutch tension, and field-repair cables.
• Strong customer-service skills; professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with restaurant owners and facility managers.

Skills

• Familiarity with General Pipe Cleaners Model 88 or similar sectional machines (e.g., Ridgid K-750, Spartan Tool Viper).
• Experience with chain-knocker, grease-cutter, and root-saw blades for different blockage types.
• Knowledge of Philadelphia sewer codes and backflow-prevention requirements.
• Proficient in reading drain-camera footage and interpreting sewer lateral diagrams.
