General Pipe Cleaners Helps 285 Rent-A-Tool Keep Mountain Communities Flowing

Running a rental business in the mountains of Colorado means being ready for anything. At 285 Rent-A-Tool in Conifer—20 miles outside Denver—we stock everything from crutches and wheelchairs to full-size backhoes, party supplies, and live animal traps. Owner Joe Gray, who’s been in the rental business since 1983, says, “We rent a little bit of everything. People know to try me first before they drive to the big city.”

About the Role

Among our wide range of equipment, drain cleaning tools are an essential lifeline for customers. With no municipal sewer systems in this mountainous area, every homeowner relies on septic systems. When septic lines clog, they need help fast. Since 1998, 285 Rent-A-Tool has trusted General Pipe Cleaners to provide durable, rental-ready drain cleaning equipment.

Equipment & Tools

Our fleet of General Pipe Cleaners equipment includes:

• Two Easy Rooter drain cleaning machines—the top rental item at 285 Rent-A-Tool
• A 50-foot Power-Vee electric drain snake
• 100-foot flat sewer rods
• Several hand-crank drain augers
• Several closet augers—“far superior” to any other Gray has ever used

The Easy Rooter is designed to clear clogged 3″ to 10″ drain lines of severe stoppages and roots. Features include:

• A reliable 1/3 hp motor with capacitor and thermal overload protection
• Reverse switch and easy-to-clean open cage reel holding 100 feet of 3/4″ or 5/8″ Flexicore® cable

• A rugged powder-coated square-tube frame with “roll bars” to protect the motor
• A plated steel cage riding on roller bearings for enhanced reliability and longer life

One Easy Rooter remained in service for over 20 years before being replaced in 2024, demonstrating its longevity and durability.
