General Orthopedic Surgeon PRN

About the role

This is a PRN General Orthopedic Surgeon position to help cover 24-hour call coverage at Platte Valley Hospital, a level III trauma community hospital in Brighton, CO. The team consists of 3 orthopedic surgeons, 3 podiatrists and 5 experienced APPs. Longer coverage gaps may be available for covering total joint arthroplasty clinic and OR duties, depending on timing.

Responsibilities

• Take orthopedic trauma call and work PRN with a variable schedule.
• Work 24-hour shifts: weekdays, weekends, or weekly, covering level III community trauma.
• No hand call or spine call.
• The DPMs take all foot and ankle calls.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree; or equivalent if education is completed outside the United States.
• Completion of graduate fellowship medical education training program in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Graduate education must be obtained through an ACGME or AOA accredited institution.
• ABMS or equivalent AOA Board Certification in the specialty(s) or subspecialty(s) of practice.
• Active Medical Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure, is required in the state in which physician will practice.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• DEA Registration schedules II-V.

Qualifications

• Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process.

Skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, trauma center setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with surgical procedures related to orthopedic trauma.
