General Mechanic - Santa Fe

About the role
Presbyterian is hiring a General Mechanic to plan, coordinate, control, and perform Facility Maintenance operations within a specified portion (Zone) of PHS-A facilities. The role ensures an uninterrupted flow of utilities based on existing design criteria, with major emphasis on preventative and predictive maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Work with little or no supervision and limited direction from specialized trades.
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures on fixtures and equipment within a predetermined Zone as prescribed in Facility Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Primary responsibility for repairs, lubrication, and adjustment of all hospital equipment to ensure a comfortable and safe environment.
- Prioritize tasks and methods independently within established PHS and Facility Services policies, procedures, and schedules.
- Evaluate and monitor the performance of building and utility systems in assigned Zones.
- Know, understand, and adhere to PHS and Department Policies and Procedures.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills through educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Understand the department operating budget and suggest methods to ensure operations remain within budget.
- Develop plans and recommendations to reduce maintenance costs within the department.
- Serve as a resource to departments within the Zone for facility maintenance operations.
- Support organizational visions, values, and strategies.
- Perform daily rounds in the assigned zone.
- Maintain and change filters as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (Trade or Vocational School preferred).
- At least 3 to 5 years of general maintenance or specialized mechanical trade experience, preferably in the healthcare industry.
