General Mechanic -

About the role

We respond to assigned departmental maintenance needs and execute repairs or replacements of equipment in our assigned area. We are familiar with various skilled crafts including plumbing, electrical, HVAC-R, and carpentry. We also handle specialty systems such as nurse call systems, fire alarm systems, television systems, medical gas systems, and ceiling systems. Requests beyond our scope are referred to the Facilities Manager for distribution to a specialty mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Performs general repairs and troubleshooting.
• Performs daily maintenance inspections/repairs in assigned area.
• Utilizes effective judgment and decision-making skills when performing job duties.
• Completes Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections according to schedule.
• Follows up on completed/current assignments.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years in maintenance experience; must be mechanically inclined including experience working with minimal supervision and multi-tasking. Must have experience using all hand tools and power tools required to properly perform job duties. Must have experience troubleshooting and problem-solving equipment issues.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license from state of residence.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating/ventilation/air conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC-R).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Skills to read, write and understand schematic drawings, blueprints, specifications, etc.

Skills

• Healthcare experience.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating/ventilation/air conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC-R).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Skills to read, write and understand schematic drawings, blueprints, specifications, etc.
