About the role
This role is within NETA. The General Mechanic ensures all personal, facility, and department safety standards are met. The individual in this role is responsible for operating, installing, and maintaining building systems and components, including electrical, heating, ventilation, overhead door, and other mechanical systems and controls, within the scope of their defined skills and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all personal, facility, and department safety standards are met.
- Operate, install, and maintain components which make up the building as well as the buildings' electrical, heating, ventilation, overhead doors, and other mechanical systems including their controls.
- Analyze problems with equipment, make repairs and test for correct results.
- Assure the proper operation of a wide variety of mechanical machines and devices including pumps, engines, motors, conveyors, compressors, and laboratory equipment.
- Repair existing structures according to work orders or verbal instructions by inspecting the work site to determine the materials, equipment, tool requirements, and method to be used.
- Performs basic plumbing work by repairing existing plumbing and pipelines, replacing washers in valves, installing plumbing fixtures.
- Performs basic electrical work.
- Practices preventive maintenance in maintaining electronic test equipment and mechanical tools.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Facilities Maintenance Department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Age 21 or over
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Government-Issued Photo ID
- Completion of a maintenance vocational/technical school or a recognized apprenticeship program
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of building structures, systems, and equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Previous experience with CMMS systems
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
Skills
- Journeyman Class B, Systems Contractor Class C, or Systems Technician Class D
- Strong understanding and knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and equipment
- Working knowledge of motors, electrical controls, lighting, gas systems and building systems

Pay
The pay range for this position is $24.99 to $33.66 per hour (Pay Grade S10). Compensation within this range will be based on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
Schedule
Sunday through Thursday, 12:00PM - 8:30PM. 4 day work week with 40 hours per week.
