About the role

At Soho House, the General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the business by ensuring operational efficiency, member/guest experience, staff retention, and optimal profit at a Soho House & Co. property. This includes overseeing hotel rooms, membership, wellness & gym, and all F&B operations. The General Manager serves as an ambassador for the Soho House brand, embracing its ethos to support staff, members, and guests. As an influential leader and strategic business partner, you will collaborate with all departments to deliver exceptional service, create culture, maximize profits, and ensure member and guest satisfaction.

A successful General Manager will work collaboratively with the Executive Chef, Regional Business Leaders, and COO to develop strategic business objectives and goals that optimize performance and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an influential leader and strategic business partner to internal and external stakeholders by assessing business objectives and delivering an elevated, approachable, and profitable experience that is consistently evaluated for improvement and innovation.
  • Assess the business on a weekly/daily basis and provide reports on the economic and operational state, developing action plans to support operational improvements, optimize profit, minimize margins, and promote exceptional experiences for members, guests, and staff.
  • Adhere to Soho House & Co. company policies for site safety, food safety, allergy procedures, and creating a safe, clean, and inviting space for members and guests, while complying with local, government, and regional legal standards.
  • Collaborate with leading Support Office business functions for guidance, brand improvement, and day-to-day operational support.
  • Build and lead a team that drives sales and retention through F&B, Operations, Marketing, PR, Social, Events & Programming, Housekeeping, and Facilities.
  • Oversee the creation, collaboration, execution, and planning of regional "big moments" such as winter roof conversions, Halloween, and off-site festivals to ensure a smooth and profitable experience.
  • Guide, develop, and implement decisions that outline policies, procedures, and systems to improve business operations, service, retention, and overall experience.
  • Provide leadership for annual marketing plans and partner with leaders in Membership, Marketing, Food & Drink, and Finance.
  • Oversee complete wage control and management.
  • Maintain brand guidelines and reinforce Soho House values with the team and members.
  • Ensure compliance with all permits and regulations, including conditional use permits.

Requirements

  • At least 7+ years managing high-volume Food and Beverage (F&B) or multi-unit operations.
  • Understand, maintain, and enforce local and government-regulated food safety, risk prevention, fire prevention, labor laws, and emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all staff and guests.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and motivate employees at all levels.
  • Interview all new and prospective hires (internal/external) and adhere to People & Development (P&D) policies while supporting team growth, development, and success planning.
  • Monitor, assess, report, and develop action items to support service trends, guest/member/staff surveys.
  • Experience as an innovator and influencer in managing F&B operations focused on service and top-quality experiences through food and drink.
  • Strong business aptitude with a creative and analytical mindset, driven by results and guest satisfaction.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships (internal/external). Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
  • Fast-paced movements are required to navigate between different parts of the club.
  • Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in front of a computer screen for up to 5 hours per day.
  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.

Pay

In accordance with New York law, the salary range for this role if filled within New York is $180,000—$200,000 USD. The range for other geographies may vary based on market differences. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
