General Manager of Grocery/Retail
About the role
The General Manager (GM) of Retail oversees the complex retail operations of an Eataly store. This role requires setting strategy, analyzing financials, leading through example, and staying close to the products and team.
Responsibilities
- Develops departmental goals and leads a team of managers
- Closely works with each manager to understand operational needs and boost interdepartmental collaboration
- Analyzes financial data and develops strategies around pricing, merchandising, and promotions
- Manages merchandise and creates product lists, identifying roll-outs and phase-outs of products
- Prepares weekly updates on the retail department for senior leadership
- Affords assistance with employee hiring, assignment, training, payroll, scheduling, evaluations, and terminations
- Documents, investigates, and resolves employee and guest incidents
- Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 6+ years of retail or grocery management experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Exceptional leadership, motivational, and team-building skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and business management skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Italian products and wine
Requirements
- Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule sometimes including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting
- Ability to operate equipment such as a slicer, pasta machine, or cash register as needed
- Availability to travel up to 10% of the time
