General Manager, Licensed Cosmetologist

About the role
The Hair Color Bar Manager establishes the roadmap for success within Madison Reed's operational best practices and guidelines, works with their team to solicit diverse perspectives, innovates business growth through positive community relationships, and promotes the products, services, and values of Madison Reed. This role reports to the District Manager, is full-time, and requires availability on weekends, holidays, and other peak times based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and develop leadership skills to provide a top-tier employee and guest experience aligned with Madison Reed’s values: Love, Joy, Trust, Courage, and Responsibility.
- Lead by example through sales and service behaviors in all guest interactions, including resolving guest service issues.
- Ensure all aspects of the business are staffed and resourced, including front-of-house operations, adhering to company standard operating procedures, assisting guests with retail orders, managing bookings, services, and memberships.
- Demonstrate mastery of all services provided at the Hair Color Bar, including working behind the chair as needed.
- Step in for district support as needed by the District Manager, which may include training new Managers, remote support, or on-site visits to nearby locations.
- Achieve monthly sales goals and other key performance indicators, including retail sales, services, and memberships.
- Ensure the Hair Color Bar meets company standards for cleanliness, merchandising, inventory, and asset security.
- Demonstrate mastery of all Madison Reed systems, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Coach and develop team members to align individual talents with relevant responsibilities, fostering team culture, guest satisfaction, and performance.
- Own recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, performance management, coaching, talent development, and training of all team members.
- Manage employee schedules based on forecasts, business needs, and compliance with local labor laws, budgets, and break requirements.
Requirements
- Active cosmetology license in the state of application.
- 2+ years of salon and retail experience.
- 2+ years of operational management experience.
- 2+ years of supervising team members, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Strong technical proficiency as a colorist.
- Proven track record of exceeding key operational and performance metrics.
- Fluency in English.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand and walk for four or more consecutive hours.
- Repetitive and regular bending and twisting at the waist.
- Manipulate fingers and hands, bend and reach wrists and arms, and reach with hands and arms.
- Move or lift up to ten pounds; occasionally sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, push, or pull up to ten pounds.
- Communicate regularly with guests via ongoing conversations and consultations.
Pay
The base salary for this role is $70,304, with opportunities to earn monthly bonuses. Factors affecting starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
