POSITION SUMMARY

Aid the General Manager in daily store operations. Execute strategies to achieve sales, margins, and financial targets. Train, coach, and manage the team under the General Manager's guidance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive Business:
    • Execute merchandise, operational, and customer service strategies to meet sales, gross margin, and financial goals
    • Model service, patient care, and selling techniques to enhance customer satisfaction
    • Act with urgency to complete tasks and respond promptly to patients and customers
    • Lead in implementing optical initiatives through effective scheduling
    • Identify growth opportunities and develop business plans
    • Follow up on action items to drive profitable sales

LEADERSHIP

  • Hire, develop, train, and manage team members
  • Assist with store scheduling
  • Ensure compliance with company HR policies and regulations
  • Communicate effectively with team regarding company initiatives, processes, and key teammate information

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PATIENT CARE

  • Provide and model exceptional customer service in all interactions
  • Partner with the General Manager for customer service direction and feedback
  • Dispense eyewear professionally
  • Participate in key-carrier tasks such as store opening/closing, cash office, payroll commitment, and alarm response

CAREER PROGRESSION

  • Improve based on feedback from the General Manager and higher-level managers
  • Prepare for future General Manager positions

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • ABO/Shopko OCE Certification within 12 months of hire/promotion
  • In Washington State, GMIT teammate must be a licensed optician
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Supervisory experience, preferably in an optical store or retail setting
  • Strong customer service focus
  • Ability to analyze and solve issues of varying scope
  • Solid organizational and planning skills
  • Continuous monitoring of progress towards goals
  • Financial data analysis, opportunity recognition, and plan formulation
  • Able to set impactful goals and motivate the team
  • Multi-tasking and flexibility in a dynamic environment
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Effective written and verbal communication at all organizational levels
  • Read and write at a high school graduate level
  • Extended periods of sitting or standing
  • Use of various office equipment (personal computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.)
  • Lift up to 20 pounds
  • See (near, distance, color, depth perception)
  • Manual and finger dexterity, hand/arm steadiness
  • Grip and hold items
  • Good eye and hand coordination
  • Physical agility (bending, twisting, reaching, pulling)
  • Operate cash register, optical equipment, and tools
  • Work normal and/or extended office hours to meet deadlines
  • Travel independently to support company objectives and personal development
