As a General Manager, you will be committed to inspiring our team, helping our Customers succeed, and growing our business with integrity. This professional-level sales and management position supports both retail and commercial sides of the business. The role requires understanding of store systems, automotive systems, parts knowledge, and the ability to assist DIY customers with troubleshooting and projects. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Professional Customer relationships and driving program growth, while achieving financial metrics and maintaining service and appearance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including building and holding the team accountable to executing Customer action plans
  • Oversee selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store Team Members
  • Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
  • Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations (DIY and Professional)
  • Handle manager-on-duty responsibilities, including touch base/coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, and open/close duties
  • Lead change management initiatives
  • Foster a respectful environment for both Customers and Team Members
  • Provide DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installation
  • Assist District/Region in other functions as requested

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 Team Members in a fast-paced, highly dynamic retail environment
  • Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • ASE certification preferred, but not required

Skills

  • Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
  • Fluent in English (Spanish a plus); strong communication and relationship-building skills with Customers, peers, and upper management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred)
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent
  • Ability to review and analyze business reports, including profit and loss statements (P&L)
  • Strong leadership skills, including holding others accountable, inspecting work quality, and providing inspiring feedback
  • Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
  • Safety knowledge and skills
  • Ability to become ASE P2 certified or ASE-ready equivalent
  • Advanced parts lookup and sourcing abilities, including special orders, FDO, and second-source options
  • Ability to execute and train others on store operational processes, procedures, testing, diagnostic equipment, inventory systems, store equipment, POS, and parts lookup systems
  • Strong recruiting, hiring, and team development skills
  • Ability to build and grow relationships with Professional Customers

Schedule

  • Exempt position requiring a minimum of 50-55 hours per week (excluding meal breaks)
  • Average schedule: 5-6 days per week, 11-hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends, with a one-hour lunch break
  • Additional hours may be required based on staffing, store conditions, sales targets, and other business demands
  • Schedule is based on the needs of the business

Physical Demands

  • Predominantly walking or standing during work hours
  • Must be able to talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to handle or feel
  • Frequent reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

  • Primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks such as battery and wiper blade installation, exposing the employee to various weather conditions
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment

Pay

The good faith estimate for this role is between $69,400.00 USD and $85,000.00 USD salary for a new team member. The rate offered depends on geographic location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, and other relevant skillsets. Position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance, and may include shift differentials where applicable.
