General Manager - Developer Tools
Job Summary
We're looking for an ambitious commercial leader who wants to become a CEO. This role is ideal for a proven sales executive with experience in revenue leadership and a desire to expand into broader business ownership.
About the role
This role is for a General Manager of a multi-product Developer Tools business. Key responsibilities include leading revenue growth, profitability, and overall business performance while gaining hands-on experience in product strategy, marketing, professional services, pricing, operations, and strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop sales managers and individual contributors
- Build a culture of accountability, execution, and continuous improvement
- Drive rigorous pipeline management, deal inspection, and forecast accuracy
- Establish operating discipline around: Pipeline coverage, pipeline quality, opportunity progression, conversion rates, sales productivity, forecasting and variance analysis
- Personally participate in strategic opportunities and key customer relationships
- Improve sales methodologies, qualification standards, and execution consistency
- Own annual planning, territory design, quota setting, and capacity modeling
- Drive predictable growth through both direct and partner-assisted sales motions
- Own overall business performance including: Revenue growth, profitability, gross margin, professional services performance, customer retention and expansion, forecast predictability
- Use data and financial analysis to identify the highest-impact opportunities for growth and operational improvement
- Work closely with product and marketing leadership to influence product roadmap priorities, improve product positioning and messaging, evaluate market opportunities and growth initiatives, optimize pricing, packaging, and monetization strategies, identify new growth vectors across products, customer segments, and channels
Requirements
- 7+ years of B2B software leadership experience
- Significant experience leading sales organizations and managing frontline sales leaders
- Demonstrated success building predictable revenue growth through disciplined sales management
- Strong forecasting, pipeline management, and deal execution skills
- Proven ability to recruit, coach, and develop high-performing teams
- Experience working closely with product, marketing, and customer-facing functions
- Strong analytical and financial acumen
- Comfort operating with full accountability for business outcomes
Preferred Experience
- Prior Regional/Territory, General Manager, Business Unit, or P&L ownership experience
- Developer Tools, DevOps, Infrastructure Software, or Technical Product experience
- Experience in private-equity-backed or highly metrics-driven organizations
- Experience managing professional services organizations
- Multi-product software portfolio experience
