Position Summary
World Courier is seeking an exceptional commercial and operational leader to take on the role of General Manager – Brokerage, North America. This high‑impact regional leadership role carries responsibility for leading and developing the Brokerage service line across North America, with a clear focus on performance, capability, customer outcomes, and growth. The successful candidate will bring a strong mix of people leadership, commercial acumen, operational credibility, and P&L ownership, gained within logistics, freight forwarding, specialty logistics, transportation, or broader supply chain environments. The role is not a purely technical customs expert position, but leadership experience in a sector where service execution, customer expectations, operational complexity, and regulated processes are central to success is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Brokerage business across North America, with accountability for service line performance, team leadership, operational execution, and future growth.
- Drive the commercial agenda by identifying opportunities to expand revenue, strengthen the customer offering, and increase market impact.
- Apply strong general‑management discipline, balancing growth ambitions with service quality, operational efficiency, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide visible, credible leadership to regional teams, building a culture of accountability, engagement, development, and high performance.
- Develop the brokerage service line to be scalable, competitive, operationally effective, and aligned with broader business priorities.
- Partner closely with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Finance, Compliance, BI, Training, and global stakeholders to align brokerage priorities with overall business goals.
- Improve service consistency, process effectiveness, and organizational capability across the North America brokerage network.
- Oversee third‑party and outsourced brokerage relationships, ensuring strong performance, effective partnership, and alignment to business standards.
- Maintain a robust framework for customs compliance, audit readiness, and regulatory oversight across the region.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile / Requirements
We are interested in senior leaders who have built their careers within logistics, freight forwarding, specialty logistics, transportation, supply chain, or similarly complex service‑led operating environments. The successful candidate should bring meaningful experience from within the sector, rather than from a purely generalist commercial or corporate background. Candidates may come directly from a brokerage leadership role, or from broader operational or commercial leadership roles within freight forwarding, specialty logistics, or related supply‑chain areas. The ability to lead where customer service, operational execution, commercial performance, and compliance must work together is essential.
Ideal Profile
- A proven track record in senior leadership, general management, or service‑line leadership within logistics, freight forwarding, brokerage, specialty logistics, transportation, or supply chain.
- Strong experience with P&L management, commercial strategy, and revenue growth in a sector‑relevant operating environment.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing high‑performing teams in a service‑driven, operationally complex business.
- Experience improving service delivery, efficiency, scalability, and performance within a logistics or supply‑chain setting.
- Ability to build strong partnerships across commercial, operational, and functional stakeholders.
- Confidence operating in a regulated environment where compliance, customer service, and business performance must go hand in hand.
- Strong leadership presence, sound judgement, and the credibility to lead at pace in a visible regional role.
- Customs brokerage expertise is highly relevant; candidates with direct brokerage leadership experience are of particular interest, though leaders from adjacent logistics sectors are also considered.
