About the role
We are looking for a purpose-driven General Manager to join our expanding team and become an ultimate ambassador of our brand. In this role, you will cultivate an encouraging atmosphere that fosters collaboration within the store team, ensuring a continuous commitment to operational excellence. The General Manager will enhance the team’s skills to provide the ‘Smoothie King Experience’ for both team members and guests, devise impactful strategies to achieve positive outcomes, and balance corporate priorities with a focus on strategic, operational, and leadership excellence.
Responsibilities
- Workforce Management: Oversee staffing, sourcing, onboarding, and scheduling. Create and implement recruitment strategies to attract team members aligned with our mission. Guide new team members through orientation and organize shifts to meet operational needs. Delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth store operations.
- Learning and Development: Empower team members with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve excellence. Schedule and execute training sessions to minimize disruption to the guest experience. Identify skill gaps and customize training programs for ongoing improvement. Support career progression through mentorship and internal mobility. Ensure the store has a certified trainer for new team members.
- Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement: Use operational tools such as P&L statements, daily checklists, cash and deposit logs, and Data Central scheduling and inventory management tools to achieve operational excellence. Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines, store appearance, and cleanliness standards. Share daily plans with Team Captains to run effective shifts. Manage cash activities, validate and reconcile cash and time logs, and identify coaching opportunities.
- Sales and Inventory: Optimize product placement and quantities to enhance sales growth while minimizing waste. Review store environment and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify problems and opportunities for improvement. Develop local store marketing plans, including community outreach and special events. Establish a weekly inventory plan and maintain inventory flow using point-of-use, front stock, back stock, and replenishment signals. Adjust store setup to meet specific needs using pars and plan-o-grams.
- Culture and Team Engagement: Foster a positive work environment with open communication and team member involvement in decision-making. Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback and coaching, and conduct progress reports. Recognize individual and team accomplishments using tools like "Team Member of the Month" and referral programs. Promote company guidelines and drive cross-departmental collaboration to streamline processes.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Recruit, interview, hire, and train staff. Oversee daily workflow, provide performance evaluations, and handle discipline and termination in accordance with company policy.
- Work Environment: Work in an environment with frequent exposure to high temperatures, extreme cold, water, sanitation solutions, produce, dairy products, and allergens (e.g., nuts, citrus, peanut butter). Operate under stressful conditions or irregular hours, including a minimum of 45 hours per week with daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts. Work during holidays or special events in a noisy area. Maintain a store office space and participate in remote meetings via video conferences.
- Physical Requirements: Audit/inspect store sites by walking, bending, stretching, squatting, and kneeling. Stand for up to eight hours. Lift up to 50 pounds, using assistance when available (e.g., hand trucks, ramps, or team members). Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Travel: Less than 10% travel required.

Requirements
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality management, or a similar field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a manager or supervisor in a restaurant or retail customer service business.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of adequate car insurance.
- Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, and general POS functionality).
- Experience with OSHA, EEOC, and other federal, state, and local laws and statutes.
- ServSafe Certification.
- Personal passion for health and fitness is a plus.
