About the Role
Madison BCycle is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented General Manager to lead its bike share system in Madison, Wisconsin. Reporting to Revolution’s Chief Business Officer, the General Manager serves as the local business leader for Madison BCycle and is responsible for system performance, operational excellence, team leadership, stakeholder relationships, revenue growth, financial results, and community impact. This role requires a thoughtful and proactive leader who can balance long-term strategy with strong day-to-day execution.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead Madison BCycle’s business strategy and performance across ridership, revenue, operations, customer experience, and financial sustainability.
- Develop and execute annual goals aligned with Revolution’s priorities.
- Identify risks and opportunities, recommend solutions, and communicate with leadership.
- Analyze system performance, pricing, ridership, and market trends to improve business results.
- Support equitable bike share initiatives.
- Partner with the Operations Manager to ensure safe, reliable system operations.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing local team.
- Foster an inclusive, accountable workplace culture.
- Oversee staffing, training, policy implementation, and performance management.
- Improve customer satisfaction through strong operational execution.
- Manage local budgets, revenue, expenses, and financial performance.
- Build relationships with municipal partners, sponsors, employers, institutions, and community organizations.
- Support local business development and sponsorship efforts.
- Oversee sponsor and advertising partnerships while ensuring contract compliance.
- Serve as the primary local representative for Madison BCycle.
- Build strong relationships with public agencies, community partners, and customers.
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership.
- Lead stakeholder meetings and ensure timely follow-up.
- Track key performance metrics and analyze operational and financial data.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, customer experience, and long-term sustainability.
- Implement measurable process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Urban Planning, Transportation, Public Administration, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- 8+ years of leadership experience with responsibility for operations, financial performance, and team management.
- Experience managing budgets and analyzing business performance.
- Demonstrated success building partnerships, sponsorships, or business development initiatives.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Experience working with government agencies, nonprofits, or community organizations preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and project management software.
- Passion for bikes, sustainability, transportation, or community impact is a plus.

Physical Requirements
Full-time (32 hours/week); occasional evenings and weekends. Regular on-site presence required with occasional remote flexibility. Ability to travel locally for meetings and field visits. Ability to lift up to 55 pounds. Ability to sit, stand, bend, and use standard office equipment.
