The Great Ohio Lodges offers a leadership opportunity at Mohican Lodge & Conference Center, a premier destination within Mohican State Park in Perrysville, Ohio. This year-round lodge is nestled along Pleasant Hill Lake and provides access to hiking trails, outdoor adventures, and scenic landscapes. The lodge features 96 newly renovated guest rooms, Bromfield’s Dining Room & Boxers Lounge, indoor/outdoor pools, and 9 meeting rooms with over 6,200 square feet of event space.
About the role
The General Manager at Mohican Lodge provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of the operation, driving financial performance, guest satisfaction, and sales and marketing success. This role ensures property safety, security, maintenance, and an exceptional guest experience while optimizing revenue, profitability, quality, and efficiency. The General Manager leads by example to deliver outstanding experiences for both guests and team members.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily lodge operations across all departments (front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, maintenance, etc.).
- Direct revenue management of rooms by anticipating market shifts and driving strategies to increase occupancy and revenue.
- Evaluate property performance, including review of financial statements (Profit & Loss, Statement of Cash Flow, Balance Sheet).
- Develop a realistic and attainable strategic business plan that defines operational goals and profitability objectives.
- Coordinate capital improvement projects to maintain and upgrade quality standards and property image.
- Facilitate open employee communication and motivate staff to achieve the highest level of guest service through programs, rewards, and recognition.
- Develop and maintain rapport with key community contacts to ensure a visible presence in the community.
- Participate in the development of short- and long-term financial and operational goals for the property.
- Ensure exceptional guest service and resolve escalated guest issues.
- Monitor guest satisfaction scores and implement improvements.
- Maintain brand standards and quality assurance programs.
- Work alongside team members to ensure efficient operations, timely food service, high standards of guest room cleanliness, and prompt guest check-in and check-out experiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or food service management preferred.
- 3–5 years of full-service hotel management experience within various departments.
- At least three (3) years of experience supervising staff.
- Strong leadership and people management experience.
- Prior experience in Food & Beverage operations a plus.
Skills
- Ability to set goals, create action plans, and guide the lodge toward long-term success.
- Ability to make informed, timely decisions in fast-paced or high-pressure situations.
- Strong commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Knowledge of occupancy strategies, ADR, RevPAR, and demand forecasting.
- Ability to interpret financial reports and operational data to guide business decisions.
- Manage expenses without sacrificing service quality.
- Working knowledge of hotel PMS systems, sales systems, and timekeeping systems.
- Supervisory and training skills, with interpersonal and sales-related experience.
- In-depth working knowledge of front desk reservation systems and processes.
- Working knowledge of most departments within the hotel.
- Strong work ethic with commitment to a 24/7 operation.

Pay
$65,000–$70,000 annually, based on experience, plus incentive for financial goals met.
