General Manager
Greenberg Fruit Company has been distributing fresh fruits and vegetables throughout Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa since 1936. Founded by Elmer Greenberg in a warehouse on the corner of 11th and Howard in Omaha’s historic Old Market, the company moved to its current location at 9705 I Street in 1973. Today, the centrally located facility serves Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding areas with easy access to Interstate 80.

This leadership position oversees company operations, project timelines, business development, and employee productivity while fostering a highly inclusive culture. The role involves refining and communicating company priorities, analyzing key operational metrics, and collaborating with the leadership team to align cross-functional objectives with organizational goals.
Responsibilities

- Analyze organizational operations, key metrics, and decisions to drive performance.
- Collaborate with leadership to align cross-functional objectives with overall company goals.
- Analyze sales history and gross profit trends to enable reliable forecasting and projections.
- Work alongside the Regional President to set and drive organizational vision, strategy, and hiring needs.
- Develop actionable business strategies and plans aligned with short- and long-term objectives.
- Implement financial procedures, organizational policies, and programs to exceed industry benchmarks.
- Assess and implement improved processes and new technologies in collaboration with management.
- Ensure compliance with national and local business regulations and take corrective action as needed.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with professionals, customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Collaborate across functional areas to create efficient processes for customer service.
- Assist in optimizing performance and use of Produce Pro software.
- Execute performance scorecards at employee, account, department, and organizational levels.
- Foster a gross margin consciousness across all functional areas.
- Promote a culture of customer service, cost efficiency, and profitability.
- Coordinate with Human Resources and Workplace Safety on employee training, performance improvement, and discipline records.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field, or equivalent leadership experience in produce, food distribution, grocery, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
- Proficient PC skills in CRM and ERP systems, including Produce Pro, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and email systems.
- Proven experience in the retail grocery channel, including developing product portfolios for grocery retailers and servicing specialty independent grocery channels.
- Direct experience selling produce products into grocery accounts, with top-to-top relationship management at senior levels.
- Track record of establishing and sustaining customer relationships to achieve results.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams on go-to-market strategies, new product initiatives, and customer-specific plans.
- History of tailoring programs to individual customer goals, strategies, and capabilities.
- Extensive experience in food service, food distribution, grocery, hospitality, or related industries, with a strong understanding of food safety, quality standards, inventory management, cost control, and team leadership.
